We believe the REC 850 is LS528C or CS98010 based
some have also reported that the Amstrad 850 may be the same player.
We have no idea about the REC R800 machine.
People have reported traits that are very similar
to the AD-L528 or Kotron DVD-101
players
If you have access to a digital camera could you take photos of
the inside of the machine
or the various menus and splash screens on the machine and e-mail them to me

In the mean time feel free to look at hacks etc
for these 2 players in case they work
